For the past twenty-five plus years, I have had the pleasure of working with families in adoption, as a caseworker; as a supervisor in adoption, foster care and preventive services. I have also worked with adolescents, children, adults and families in a clinic as a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) and a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) for 13 years.
My expertise is in assisting families to identify common ground as a means to find solutions that everyone can agree on. Women who have experienced DV are also a population I have worked with in helping them to recover and develop positive self-esteem and independence. The pre-teen and adolescent years involve drastic change, both physically and emotionally. It is a time of discovery. I have worked with teens who have experienced gender identity conflict and rejection by family and peers. Respectful confrontation has been taught as a means of defense against those that target anyone who is different, (race, ethnicity, religion, sexual identity), and as a means to develop positive self-esteem.
